Gossyplure is a synthetic pheromone used in pest management, particularly for controlling the pink bollworm (Pectinophora gossypiella), which is a major pest of cotton crops. Mating disruption involves saturating the environment with synthetic pheromone dispensers to interfere with the ability of male moths to locate female moths for mating. By confusing male moths and disrupting their mating behavior, mating disruption can reduce the overall reproductive success of the pest population.
